Before Virginia came, I also had a good visit from the inlaws. It was great to see them, and find some new interesting things about Wilmington.

For example, Fort Fischer has one of the neatest war maps I've ever seen. Little lights blink and travel across the map of the area. Pretty high tech, for the Civil War.
Apparently the left foot is the ideal starting foot when scaling a wall.

More pictures as they come! (Tim and I haven't been the best at taking pictures lately. I prefer stealing them from others)

Just so you know, if your car battery dies at Sonic, you can meet an array of people including every Sonic worker, even the owner. This is especially true if the first car that tries to jump you doesn't work...hence meeting the owner of Sonic.
You might also get to meet the nice people at Advanced Auto Parts, including a woman who thought I was married at age 16, and Sonny, a super friendly employee that can't taste, smell, or see out of his left eye, because of a car wreck in '74.

It's not such a bad experience.

Things that happen when you get your hair cut at a place that advertises: "Not your Grandma's beauty parlor"
1) You will sit among people trying on animal inspired clothes for a fashion show. This will include blue sequences spandex and dressed that tie on.
2) A man next to you will insist on getting his hair cut like The Mentalist's, even if the hairdresser doesn't know who that is.
3) Your hairdresser will be attempting to fix the eyes on her raccoon head, made completely from human hair, for the fashion show that night (apparently the themes were all animal inspired).
4) You will get 7 1/2 inches cut off, because the hair dresser insists 8 inches is too short, thus preventing you from donating it. But you'll like it anyways, because it's spring, and you're ready for a change.

5) You also might walk by and be in the pilot for some new WB show.
You know its an interesting day when you hear your bus driver tell everyone to look her up on myspace.

Virginia and I tried to, but we failed.
I'm not sure I appreciate my toothpaste bottle telling me how to get the toothpaste out. I read this morning:

FOR BEST RESULTS, SQUEEZE TUBE FROM THE BOTTOM AND FLATTEN AS YOU GO UP.

This is not how I prefer to squeeze the tube, and I'm pretty sure my way is just as efficient. So take that, Crest.

What it might look like to be a part of the Duggar family (the one from the show 18 kids and counting):

That's a lot of macaroni, folks. and I only ate a bight of it.
What I thought was a simple oil change and a quick inspection to figure out why my air conditioner wasn't working in my car turned out to be quite an ordeal. The dealership got backed up, and because I told them I was waiting until my car was finished, and because a few Mazdas of similar makes had recently been having "wire box" (??) problems, thus meaning the car would have to stay overnight, and because my car was still under warranty... they just decided to give me a rental car.

And Enterprise decided to give me a minivan.

Don't expect to see me drive a minivan any time again soon.

(although, it has been really nice for lugging scuba equipment around. The car does have its advantages.)

Two different people today asked me if Tim was my brother.
He's not.

I'm not sure I understand why Wilmington had it's St. Patrick's Day parade today, especially as the holiday actually does fall on a Saturday a week from now, but I sure did have fun. Nothing tastes better than candy thrown from a float/car/motorcycle...

except of course the Coastal Cupcake that I had before. Seriously, I don't know how a cupcake store stays in business, but I hope they do forever, because they are a little slice of heaven.

PS_ Thanks to Olivia for alerting me that St. Patricks Day is actually on a Tuesday.... but still.

I'm not sure why I feel such a sense of accomplishment after I've finished watching a TV show in DVD. I always have a feeling that I'm getting something done. This triples when you watch 3 seasons of a TV show in 2 weeks (in my case: the Office).

I'm also not sure why New Hanover county had a 2 hour delay this morning. I think I saw maybe 3 snowflakes. I think I have feelings of jealousy for the public school kids.
Yesterday, Tim and I celebrated "Be a Tourist in Your Own City" day by checking out the local battleship for free. Unfortunately, it was in the low 30s and raining continuously, but you can't beat seeing history for free when it normally has a 12 dollar price ticket. I decided if I were to have a job in the ship, I would want to work for the medic typing up reports.

It made me truly have respect for the Navy and engineers. I could not get my head around the vehicle, and we lost our bearings several times within the ship. The fact that they had this thing in the 1940s blew my mind.

I followed up this endeavor by trying out Carolina BBQ. I'm definitely not a fan. I don't like my meat so wet, which is how I would describe it.

Tim and I also, apparently, are in a stage in life where we continually forget to bring our camera places, so alas, I have no pictures to prove this happened.
