Snow Day

Today it snowed in Wilmington, and Tim had his first ever snow day from work. (Well, he had to go in for about two hours, long enough to cancel all the appointments and whatnot, but that barely exists in my mind because I slept late and woke up just as he was getting home. Thank you for announcing you were closed the day before, UNCW!)

I went outside for maybe 10 seconds, long enough to feed the birds. Because some snow days are play outside days, and other snow days are watch the birds and National Geographic documentaries from the couch days.

The Great Debate

Tim and I are having a debate. There's no right or wrong answer, but I'm curious about your opinion.

If you had to spend 3,000 dollars on an animal, which would you rather have?

A Bengal cat?

Or a micro pig?

Both are pretty awesome, I know.

What My New Years Resolutions Actually Are

1) Write more letters. I don't think this actually benefits anything, but it's something I like to do, and since people will be moving after they graduate, I want to stay in touch. I don't expect anyone will respond, but it's a nice way to sit and reflect on life.

2) Write more. I wrote more in 2010 than ever before, which is good. But the summer of 2010 is on the low list of favorite summers, and did not include much writing at all. I hope I find balanced routine when I graduate. (The one aspect that pulls summer 2010 up are all of the visitors we had. Yay visitors! Everyone come visit Wilmington this summer! What brought it down was working a job that I liked but had a stressful deadline, along with working a job that I didn't like for various reasons, yet took up all my time. Oh well, lesson learned!)

3) Go to the beach more. Because that's my favorite place in the world, and sharing a car and having a husband who doesn't quite buy into the idea that a perfect day is just sitting for six to eight hours are not good excuses to get my booty down there as much as possible.

4) Read the Bible more. If only I didn't have to put this on my list most years.

What My New Years Resolutions Should Be

1) Stop drinking so much diet coke (and other diet varieties)
2) Stop pining after dresses online that you will never be able to afford to buy.
3) Stop looking at future dogs on the internet, and be happy you just have a place to live.
4) Stop freaking out about how there are ten million writers better than you out in the world, because you are 25 and still have room to grow, even though 25 is the same age Michael Chabon  and Flannery O'Connor were when they published their first novel.

But what I should do isn't always what I actually do.
