After three days of prayers, stress, headaches, stomachaches, agony, and complete school unprodutiveness, I have confirmed at UNC Wilmington.

A funny thing has happened since I've started telling people I'm going to graduate school in creative writing: people tell me all about their writing projects. I have discovered there are a lot of writers in this world, most wanting and waiting to be published, and these writers love to talk to a fellow writer (as do I). Usually, it's fun to hear people talk about something they are passionate about, whether its about their book on post-dramatic stress disorders (as I heard about today), or some lady's dog (as the first person I experienced this phenomenon with told me about ). But sometimes, I really just want to buy the purse and get out of Dillards.

On Friday, Tim and I took engagement pictures. As a direct response, the weather dropped into winter weather temperature range, it rained so much the three days before that people started looking for the ark, and the wind competed to outdo all other extreme weather forms. I got my eyebrows waxed, and again, as a direct response to engagement pictures, the salon stylist decided the best way to remove hair would be to remove all of the skin underneath my eyebrow as well. Hormones decided to freckle my forehead with zits, and then I dropped my pearl earring down the drain. But despite it all, the engagement pictures were taken, and life went on.

Tonight, the Memphis tigers play in the NCAA championship game, and I’m actually feeling Memphis pride. Perhaps this comes after officially registering for classes at my new university. Or, perhaps it comes from this past weekend’s trip to Memphis for cousin Jason’s wedding. Or maybe it’s because I like gangster movies, and watching Memphis’ basketball team is about as thug as you get on the basketball court. But whatever the case, I’m excited!
